Love is in Bloom: A Spring Shower
Can we just take a moment to soak in the magic of springtime? It's a time of renewal, of blossoming beauty, and what better setting for a bridal shower? With those April showers paving the way for May flowers, love is in bloom. We recently planned a spring bridal shower, adding all the spring vibes to create some seriously unforgettable moments for the beautiful bride-to-be and her loved ones.
We wanted to infuse the venue with an airy and spring-like atmosphere. So, we decked it out with fresh flowers everywhere you looked – from the buffet to the dessert table, no corner was left untouched. A stunning green backdrop adorned with wooden words "Love is in Bloom" and delicate butterflies cascading up the wall added a whimsical touch. Another hanging arch artwork adorned with butterflies and flowers added to the overall spring ambiance. We also created a mini flower wall featuring a pearl-decorated "A," representing the initials of the bride and groom-to-be. This served as the perfect backdrop for the couples' game when the groom made his surprise appearance. Even the gift box, fashioned as a flower-filled lantern, and the party favors, placed by a vintage lace umbrella adorned with flowers, captured the essence of "April showers bring May flowers." Prizes for the games were nestled in spring-themed bags with beautiful floral accents, tying together all the details with our spring theme.
The venue we selected had an open-concept layout with distinct rooms, maintaining an airy and spacious feel while providing clear boundaries between different areas. For a bridal shower, ample space for guests to move around freely and engage in games is essential. We opted for heavy hors d'oeuvres along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic signature drinks. The drinks were pre-poured and had personalized drink charms with the names of each guest, because nobody wants to misplace their drink at a party! Flower corsages, seamlessly fitting within the spring theme, were distributed to each guest as part of the "can't say wedding or dress" game, adding a playful element to the entire afternoon. As guests arrived, we had a designated greeter who handed out flower corsages, directed them to the gift box area, and encouraged the guests to find the drink with their name on it.
Once the majority of guests had arrived, the bride made her grand entrance following a heartfelt toast from her sisters. She had the opportunity to mingle with her guests and enjoy some refreshments before the start of the games. The first game, Musical Bouquet, engaged all guests. They formed a circle as they passed the bouquet until the music stopped. The guest holding the bouquet when the music stopped was out of the game. As the circle grew smaller with each round, it eventually came down to the last two ladies, who dueled to avoid holding the bouquet when the music ended. Pro tip: Opt for a faux bouquet to avoid unnecessary clean-up of petals. Trust us when we say the game gets intense, and real flowers won't withstand all the action – that's a tried and true advice from past experience.
The afternoon continued with the classic game of Toilet Paper Dress, but with a twist (we love getting creative with our games). Three teams of four ladies crafted stunning TP dresses, and we would pause the game to have the contestants answer a trivia question about the couple. The team with the correct answer earned an embellishment to add to their dress. We had double-sided tape, bobby pins, and a crown as embellishments. After the time ran out, our beautiful models walked the runway to showcase their team's beautiful creations, and the hostess chose the winning team.
It was the perfect afternoon celebrating the glowing bride-to-be, surrounded by her closest friends on a gorgeous spring day where love was undeniably in full bloom. Infusing that springtime vibe into this occasion created an atmosphere where love truly flourished, leaving the bride-to-be and her loved ones with memories to cherish for a lifetime.
